About Guess the Size

Guess the Size is a free browser game about how big things really are. Each round shows a familiar object at its real size next to a mystery object. Stretch the mystery object to the size you think it is, lock in your guess, then see the real size and your score.

Where the sizes come from

Every size in the game has a written source. We look for the body that defines or measures the thing first: a standard (ISO for cards and paper sizes), a government agency (USDA for produce, NASA for planets, the US National Park Service for monuments), the maker’s spec sheet, or a museum, zoo or university. An encyclopedia is the fallback.

Real things vary, so the game uses one typical value, and we say what is measured: height, height at the shoulder, length nose to tail, diameter or wingspan. The game rounds it to keep rounds fair; the size pages give the exact figures, ranges by size class or sex where they matter, and links to every source.

When two sources disagree, we use the more authoritative one and say so on the page. Spotted a mistake? Email us (address below) and we will check the source and fix it.
