The ID-1 standard
Credit and debit cards follow the ID-1 format of the international standard ISO/IEC 7810. An ID-1 card is 85.60 mm wide and 53.98 mm high (3.370 x 2.125 in). Its corners are rounded with a radius of 2.88 to 3.48 mm, about 1/8 in. The format is also called CR-80. Because the outline is fixed by a standard, compliant cards fit the same wallets and card readers.[1][2]
Thickness and other cards
All ISO/IEC 7810 card sizes have a nominal thickness of 0.76 mm. Wikipedia gives the tolerance as 0.08 mm either way, so 0.68 to 0.84 mm (0.027 to 0.033 in). The same ID-1 size is used for driving licences and personal identity cards in many countries, public transport fare cards and retail loyalty cards. Passport booklets are ID-3, and the smallest format, ID-000, is used for Mini-SIM cards.[1][2]

Bank cards, ID cards and many transit passes share one size: 85.6 × 54.0 mm (ISO/IEC 7810 ID-1).
